When you read a book and want to know how it ends, you should never have a peak at the last pages. Well, in this case I really wanted to know if Basso is alright, so I skipped most parts (the one’s that didn't have the name Basso in it. Now I know that he is alright, I will read your post again :-).
Love this, ben. I remember reading Gandhi's autobiography in which he says something like "all beings fear death" and it resonated with me and spurred my vegetarianism. In India, they refer to people who eat meat as " non veg" which I find interesting... The " normal" being veg.. :) anyway, thank you for this.
I was going to write something about Gandhi here too. He said that the beginning of his political commitments was the commitment not to shed the blood of animals. Last year I got to visit the house in Delhi where he was killed and I was somewhat surprised to see how much emphasis his vegetarianism got in the telling of his life story. But it doesn't surprise me since it is the basis of my own political beliefs. Alas, the BJP has now weaponized vegetarianism as a way of bullying Muslims -- yet another way in which they have besmirched the most noble Indian traditions.
The way you write about Basso feeling not well, was breaking my heart. Monique Taillie

The story is very dramatic!
Very nice. I don’t know how you do it.
Love the veg posts. But you know that. 😍
Love that you love them! Of course.
Love this.
Thanks, Michael!
Benjamin, merci d'avoir écrit ce texte. Obrigada. É muito util.
Obrigado eu por ler, querida Claire.
