Every day, the catastrophe in the Middle East seems that it can’t get worse — and then, every day, it gets worse. It is hard to see what this latest expansion of the war — which, in the Orwellian language to which we have become almost immune, is called “escalating to de-escalate” — is going to achieve, but it has already achieved a vast amount of destruction of human lives and property.
It has also achieved a great amount of damage to animals. For a few years now, I have been supporting an organization called Rescuing in Lebanon. Even before the current disaster, its director, Fadwa Abbas, had been struggling with debt. Now, with hundreds of thousands of people fleeing South Lebanon, often in the most hasty and desperate circumstances, animals are often left behind. Many animals that Fadwa had arranged to be adopted abroad can now no longer travel because of the constant bombing around Beirut’s airport. Her own grandmother’s house was recently destroyed by Israel. It is an extremely bleak panorama.
These animals and this organization need your help. Will you donate?
